A 501(c)(3) ministry · Raleigh, North Carolina

A home is the foundation
of every recovery.

Fresh Roots Renewal Ministries acquires real estate — through gift, bargain sale, and discounted purchase — and turns it into safe, stable housing for veterans who have nowhere left to go.

Our mission

We give honor a place to live.

Every veteran who served this country deserves a roof, a door, and a neighborhood willing to stand with them.

How it works

Three steps, repeated until every veteran has a home.

Our work is not complicated. It is simply persistent. We find a property at the right price, we put a veteran in it with the support they need, and we walk with them while they rebuild. Then we do it again.

01

We acquire homes

Through donated property, bargain sales, tax-foreclosed parcels, surplus government conveyance, and grants that fund discounted purchase. Every property we accept passes a board-approved gift-acceptance review.

02

We house veterans

In coordination with the VA Medical Center, local Continuum of Care, and recovery community partners. Placements are paired with case management, peer support, and a community grounded in the principles of the Twelve Steps.

03

We rebuild lives

Through job training, employment placement, and the steady presence of a community that doesn't disappear. Recovery is a long road. We walk it with them.

Four pillars

Everything a veteran needs to come home
and stay home.

Housing is the floor. Recovery, work, health, and community are the walls and roof. We provide all four — directly or through trusted partners — and we don't hand veterans off until they're ready.

Safe housing

Single-occupancy and shared homes in stable neighborhoods.

Job training

Skills development with employer partners ready to hire.

Community events

Meals, meetings, and gatherings that fight isolation.

Health services

Coordination with VA care and recovery-focused providers.

Ways to help

You can put a roof over a veteran's head this year.

Cash gifts keep our properties running. Gifts of real estate let us house veterans we could not otherwise reach. Volunteer hours and employer partnerships compound everything we do.

Most flexible

Give cash

A one-time or monthly gift. Tax-deductible. Funds operations and acquisition.

Highest leverage

Donate property

A home, a parcel, or a building you no longer need can become permanent housing for veterans.

Volunteer

Skilled trades, mentoring, meal teams, peer support. Bring what you have.

Hire a veteran

Our veterans are ready to work. You may qualify for federal tax credits when you employ them.

Where we stand

Honest numbers, kept honestly.

We publish our impact metrics as they're verified. If a number isn't here yet, we haven't earned it yet.
