Fresh Roots changes the math. Our veterans have stable housing, active case management, and a community that helps them stay on track. We don't pretend everyone is perfect, but we do tell you what we know — honestly — before you say yes.

Pre-screened candidates

We don't refer anyone we wouldn't hire ourselves. Skills assessment, work history conversations, and an honest readiness check happen before you meet them.

Tax benefit

The Work Opportunity Tax Credit.

The federal Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) provides a credit to employers who hire individuals from targeted groups, including qualified veterans. Depending on the category and the veteran's circumstances, the credit ranges from $2,400 to as much as $9,600 per qualifying hire.

For veterans facing housing instability or with a service-connected disability, the credit is often at the higher end of that range. Most Fresh Roots referrals will qualify in one or more WOTC categories.

The credit is claimed by completing IRS Form 8850 and ETA Form 9061, submitted to your state workforce agency within 28 days of the qualifying hire's start date. We'll walk you through it.
